In partnership with the Consulate General of Mexico and the Mexican Cultural Center, five of Denver’s premier cultural institutions are collaborating to host free Día del Niño (Day of the Child) celebrations from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 29. The Byers-Evans House Museum, the Clyfford Still Museum, the Denver Art Museum, the Denver Public Library and the History Colorado Center will offer a variety of family friendly activities including live music and dance performances. The event includes free general admission for children 12 and younger at the new History Colorado Center and free general admission to all visitors at the other four institutions. The Boulder Police Department, in partnership with Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers, will host a combination shred-a-thon and drug take-back day. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 28 at the Elevations Credit Union parking lot, located at 2960 Diagonal Highway in Boulder. Free, secure shredding will be provided by Cintas Document Shredding Corporation. Bring paper only; hard drives, disks, etc. will not be accepted. Shredding will be done on site. Medicine will be disposed at the same location--remove prescription drug labels with identifying information before drop off. Come and celebrate the opening of the new History Colorado Center, Colorado’s new history museum and cultural attraction, on Saturday, April 28. Denver City Park will be the site of festivities when more than 9,000 walkers take part in the Colorado-Wyoming Chapter, National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society’s 2012 Wells Fargo Walk MS Denver, presented by MS Lifelines. The Denver Union Station Project Authority (DUSPA) will conduct free guided tours of the Denver Union Station redevelopment site this summer. The tours will be held at 4:30 p.m., starting on Thursday, May 10, 2012, and continuing on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month through July. The one-hour tour will start inside the Great Train Hall at the historic station, 1701 Wynkoop Street. Parking in and around the station is very limited. Public transportation is recommended. North Metro Fire Rescue District will be offering a new line up of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) classes for the community. These classes are open to the general public and cost $50 per student. Classes are held at North Metro Fire Station 62 on 10550 Huron St. in Northglenn.
