Mother’s Day this year is Sunday, May 13.
Mother’s Day, in the United States, has its roots associated to the special bond between a mother and her son(s) away at war. It is also a day made possible over 100 years ago by the efforts of Anna Jarvis whose late mother she wanted to honor — which lead the way to today’s national holiday.
For those last minute shoppers, there is officially less than a week to get that special gift to the woman that has given you her all.
For purists however, one day alone is not enough to honor that special woman in someone’s life. They argue that the holiday has become all too commercialized, which coincidently lead Jarvis to protest what the holiday had become.
But whatever your sentiments are over the second Sunday of May, we’d like to wish all the mamacitas out there a happy Mother’s Day!
