PROFILE
Dominque Martinez is a recent graduate of Denver East High School and will attend Colorado State University-Fort Collins later this fall. She maintained a 3.434 GPA and her name has been on the school’s Honor Roll. She was the school’s girl basketball team manager over the last couple of years. Martinez’ psychology teacher from last year said of her: “ … her upbeat attitude and eagerness to learn upon entering the classroom is contagious to her peers and myself.” Martinez currently works full-time now that she graduated.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Martinez’ volunteer work involves the Aztlan Recreation Center. There, she helped by assisting visitors, made cards and cleaned. Asked why she thinks community involvement is important, Martinez said so that “every kid could have the same opportunities I got.”
IF I COULD IMPROVE THE WORLD . . .
“I would give every kid around the world the same opportunity to succeed,” Martinez said. If it were up to her, she would do this by instituting more schools and recreation centers in poor neighborhoods.
