Benefits of biking to work are plentiful.
Look out your window and you might just get a glimpse of the many people who have decided to join in on the fun of Bike to Work Day 2012 today.
Colorado Bike Month is held every June and Bike to Work Day is held the fourth Wednesday of the month. The purpose of the event, which is sponsored by the League of American Bicyclists and organized by the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG), is to encourage people to use this alternative form of transportation that will not only help to cut down traffic while improving air quality, but also promote health benefits one pedal at a time. Calorie burning, stress reducer, energy booster and improved heart health are just some of the health benefits associated with cycling.
Whether as an individual, as a group or together as a company, participants at this year’s Bike to Work Day had the opportunity to reap the benefits that cycling has to offer as well as the chance to win cool prizes and enjoy the breakfast stations.
If you weren’t able to join in this year, visit Bike to Work Day’s website to obtain more information about how you can participate next year. Visit www3.drcog.org/biketowork.
