Join the Denver Civic Center for Independence Eve presented by Anadarko, a free Colorado Symphony concert and fireworks display on Tuesday, July 3, in Denver’s Civic Center Park (Colfax & Broadway) beginning at 8 p.m. With safety confirmation from the Denver Fire Department, this third-annual, free fireworks display will continue as part of Gov. John Hickenlooper’s statewide fundraising effort for the Colorado Fire Relief Fund 2012, with Anadarko Petroleum Corporation pledging $25,000 to match funds raised via mobile giving at Independence Eve. Due to the severe weather conditions affecting Colorado and the unprecedented wildfire season, the Arapahoe County Sheriff and the city of Aurora have decided to eliminate the fireworks portion of Aurora’s annual Fourth of July event on Wednesday, July 4 at the Aurora Municipal Building, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway. The rest of the evening’s activities will continue as planned. Residents of Aurora and the metro area are invited to come out and participate in the event and make a cash or check donation to the American Red Cross in support of the victims of the Colorado wildfires.
Lafayette’s Fourth of July Community Celebration will continue without a public fireworks display. The food, beer, music and fun planned for July fourth at Waneka Lake Park, 1600 Caria Drive, will proceed as planned beginning at 4 p.m., but the public fireworks display has been cancelled this year. Shuttle service will be provided from the east parking lot of Flatirons Community Church from 4-9:30 p.m. The church is located at 355 W South Boulder Rd.
