The Colorado Rockies beat the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday, 5-4. The Pirates are headed toward first place in the NL Central division while the Rockies sit at the bottom of the League’s barrel. High hopes are expected for the Pirates. Sadly, for Pirates fans, the Pirates have not had a winning season since 1992.

More injuries for the Rockies before their Tuesday night game against the Pirates included Chris Nelson. The Rockies infielder suffered a setback when he had his heart shocked back into rhythm Tuesday afternoon. He is in the hospital and in good condition. Rockies player, Jonathan Herrera suffered a wrist infection, which placed him on a 15-day disabled list.

In soccer: The Colorado Rapids continue a non-winning saga. After a loss to the winless FC Dallas on Saturday night, 2-1, the Rapids ongoing injuries further affect the club. The Rapids have moved team captain, Pablo Mastroeni to the disabled list. Rapids coach Oscar Pareja has indicated an interest in luring two international players to the Rapids team, Mor Diouf, a 23-year-old South African, and a defense midfielder from Edcuador.

The Rapids have announced that the Los Angeles Galaxy have rescheduled an upcoming game and will play the Colorado Rapids at home on Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. at the Home Depot Center. The move reportedly is to give the L.A. Galaxy more time to prepare for the upcoming CONCACAF Champions League game in Puerto Rico on Sept. 19.

In football: Broncos defensive end Elvis Dumervil was arrested in Miami on suspicion of aggravated assault with a firearm, a class-three felony, according to a police report. The incident allegedly took place after a road rage incident in South Beach, Fla.
