Colorado State University’s annual Cesar Chavez celebration kicks off on Monday, March 24 with a theme of “Continuing the Work of Cesar Chavez: Harvesting Hope.” Visit www.cesarchavez.colostate.edu for a list of events. All events are free and open to the public.

On Friday, March 28, “Cesar Chavez an American Hero” will be showing at the Denver Pavilions and at the Harkins 18 in Stapleton Show Times and tickets will go on sale the March 25th online at their websites.

The Denver Chapter of the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement will be holding its 7th Annual Cesar Chavez Dinner, Dance and Awards Ceremony on Saturday, March 29 at the Police Protective Association Event Center (2105 Decatur Street). Beginning at 6 p.m. followed by Mexican buffet dinner at 7 p.m. Visit www.denver.co.lclaa.org.

Cesar Chavez March on Sunday, March 30 at 1 p.m. in Colorado Springs. Labor Council For Latin American Advancement (LCLAA) is sponsoring it along with Colorado Latino Forum and Mecca. Aztec dancers will also be performing. Participants will assemble at the Pioneer Museum (215 S. Tejon Street) to listen to community leaders speak about Cesar Chavez’ great accomplishments and how he has shaped American society today. The participants will then follow Aztec dancers North on Nevada Avenue to Acacia Park. The march will conclude with performances by Ballet Folklorico De La Raza in the park’s band shell. On Monday, March 31, there will be a screening of “Cesar’s Last Fast” documentary. The Labor Council For Latin American Advancement (LCLAA) Denver has already rented the theater (Sie FilmCenter, 2510 E Colfax Ave.) with a seating capacity of 315 and there is a promotional code (cchavez) whereby people can purchase the $10 tickets with a $2 discount. Free days for Colorado residents are held throughout the year at Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield, 8500 West Deer Creek Canyon Road, thanks to funding from the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD). Free Day at Chatfield takes place on Tuesday, April 1. Visit
