Lucha and Boli are ready to start their own all-female mariachi band, but they’ll have to fight a male-dominated music genre and pressure from their families to get it done. A thousand years ago, the Ancestral Puebloans built a complex and extensive civilization in the mountains and deserts of the Southwest. They left behind extraordinary art and architecture which reflect their intimate relationship with the land, the sun, the moon and stars. A Fiske project combines the scholarly, artistic and technological expertise of the University of Colorado, Boulder. Their team includes astronomers and archaeologists who have made some of the most important discoveries in these regions. This educational experience will combine ancient knowledge and modern technology to explore the universal connection between humans and the skies. The 36th annual UNC Gala is a celebration of our student artists, bringing outstanding students in visual art, music, and theatre to one stage. All proceeds from ticket sales go to fund scholarships for students in the Arts at UNC.
