Local Latina honored among NAHREP agents 2018

The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals® (NAHREP) has recognized Denver resident Soledad Tobar as being among the most successful Latino real estate agents in the country for 2018. Tobar is affiliated with the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Denver Central office.

Caring 4 Denver

The Caring 4 Denver campaign submitted more than 10,000 signatures to Denver Elections, which is over twice the amount needed to qualify for the November ballot. Caring 4 Denver is a ballot measure to bring more mental health and addiction services to Denver. Melanie Stritch, a mother in recovery, and Dr. Carl Clark, President & CEO of Mental Health Center of Denver, joined Representative Leslie Herod at the Denver Elections office and talked about the impact this measure will have on our community.

Division of Real Estate website debuts

The Division of Real Estate, part of the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA), which houses the state’s Home Owners’ Associations (HOA) Information and Resource Center (Center), announced today that it has debuted a new website designed to provide a user-friendly experience for people who are looking for information about HOAs.

Central 70 Project to break ground

Fifteen years of study and planning, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) broke ground on the Central 70 Project on Friday, Aug. 3, at the I-270 and I-70 interchange. Central 70 is CDOT’s largest project ever; delivering the first safety and capacity improvements to this stretch of I-70 since the highway was constructed in the early 1960’s. The Central 70 Project is expected improve safety, mobility and community connections along one of Colorado’s most congested interstate corridors. The 10-mile project includes removing the 54-year old viaduct, lowering a section of I-70 below grade and constructing a 4-acre park over the interstate. One new Express Lane in each direction will be added between Brighton Boulevard and Chambers Road. Construction is expected to take four years to complete. Central 70 is the first of three CDOT Express Lanes projects expected to break ground this year.

President Donald Trump, in light of his previous decision on May 8, 2018, to cease the participation of the United States in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action of July 14, 2015 (JCPOA), will re-impose all sanctions lifted or waived (on Iran) in connection with the JCPOA as expeditiously as possible and in no case later than 180 days from May 8, 2018, as outlined in the National Security Presidential Memorandum-11 of May 8, 2018.

Colorado Governor

Gov. John Hickenlooper announced that Larry Wolk, MD, the State’s Chief Medical Officer and Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), is resigning. Wolk has accepted the role of Chief Medical Officer with the Wonderful Company, based in Santa Monica. Wolk will leave the CDPHE at the end of August. Karin McGowan, the current Deputy Executive Director, will serve as the Interim Executive Director and, Tista Ghosh, M.D., the current Deputy Medical Officer, will serve as Interim Chief Medical Officer through the end of the governor’s administration.

Denver Mayor

Mayor Michael B. Hancock invites residents to join him in celebrating the people and neighborhoods that strengthen the Mile High City by participating in Denver Days 2018. “Denver Days is about celebrating our city’s people and the strength of our community,” Mayor Hancock said. “Neighbors coming together with their neighbors is the best way to recognize the richness of our neighborhoods and elevate the culture, character and community of our great city.”
