Oil on the Western Slope
With gas prices soaring nationwide, Congressional House Republicans are pushing an energy bill that would accelerate fuel development. The bill would modernize oil and gas development authorizing two million acres in Colorado (Western Slope), Wyoming and Utah. Although development is still years in the making the bill would set the groundwork for oil shale growth in Colorado.
Loveland draws an ACE
The City of Loveland won a major bid with The Colorado Association for Manufacturing and Technology to develop NASA’s ACE project an Aerospace and Clean Energy Technology Park. The development campus will be located south of Loveland and will house an 811,000 square foot building. Along with the new campus will come 7,000 to 10,000 jobs for the Loveland area.
Wind energy in Fort Lupton
While congressional Republicans push for their energy bill to bring oil shale drilling to Colorado, a Danish manufacturer for renewable energy has decided to make Colorado its home. Bach Composite Industries has chosen Fort Lupton’s former site of the Colorado Railcar Manufacturing as their site for an assembly plant, producing composite products for wind energy businesses. Colorado has been leading the way in supporting renewable energy companies nationwide. Vestas made Colorado their home in 2007 constructing their factories in Windsor and Brighton, which may have been a contributing factor to Bach Composite Industries decision to call Colorado their home. |
