If I could improve the world, I would…Oscar Zapata has been an exemplary student at John F. Kennedy High School for three years and has a current 3.1 GPA to prove it. Zapata was a member of the Student Council during his junior year and has participated in several sports teams at his school. He is a member of the varsity football and track team. He has received several honors and recognitions at school including the JFK Offensive Player of the Year Award during his junior year, the CHASSA Hero of the Week this year and the Athletic Academic Award. He has also been recognized as the Old Spice Red Zone Player of the Year and the Procter & Gamble Award as Player of the Year, both during his junior year. Zapata is bilingual and works part-time at Daddy Mommy Day Care as an assistant to the company’s president. He has applied to Chadron State College, Colorado State University-Pueblo, Mesa State and Western State College of Colorado.

Community involvement:
Zapata has volunteered within his community through extracurricular activities. He participated in park clean ups in his neighborhood parks with both the Student Council and the school’s football team. He has also been involved with the Breast Cancer Carnival Fundraiser through the football team and has been a volunteer at INVESCO Field during Denver Bronco games.
