Information for Foreigners unlike any other play

members stressed how hard it is to separate themselves from their roles in the play. “There is a debriefing that has to happen because of the intensity of the material,” one member noted.
Filled with scenes that are uncomfortable and hard to watch, the show is recommended for mature audiences, ages 16 and up. Expect to be part of the show as soon as you enter through the playhouse doors. Groups will be assigned to go with different “guides” to experience each scene of the walking play. It can be an intense experience to participate in, but an important lesson learned as well.
When asked about the main take home message of the show, Garcia says, “Even if we don’t see the abuse, it doesn’t mean it isn’t happening around the world.” Garcia’s words combine with an important theme of the show that stresses that it is important to pay attention to what is not being said and voiceless communities who are overshadowed by those in power.
The 73rd Avenue Theatre Company is a non-profit organization created in March of this year. It offers artistic shows and classes with themes such as theatre, dance, and music. The organization was created in hopes of giving back to the community through live cultural events that can involve local artists. The company notes on their Web Site that they “try to provide at least one bilingual workshop and show, reaching out to those people who may have a Hispanic background or that are interested in learning more about the Hispanic culture.”
Information for Foreigners begins June 16th and runs through August 25th with performances every Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The 73rd Avenue Theatre Company playhouse is located at 7287 Lowell Blvd in Westminster. Admission is free. ...
