Who is giving celebrities their signature looks these days? Being a make-up artist is a thriving business for many. Latinos are front and center getting big names ready to hit the stage, all the while becoming big names themselves.
Elizabeth Ulloa, professional makeup artist, is one of these cases. Of Nicaraguan decent, Ulloa grew up in Los Angeles and quickly discovered, aesthetics and the art of makeup were her fortes. After learning at Joe Blasco and Cinema Make Up, she moved to New York at age 19, where she juggled makeup gigs with editing stints at top magazines like Rolling Stone and Vogue.
This multitalented mujer, moved to Los Angeles again with the dream of becoming a top celebrity makeup artist. Today, Ulloa’s clients include personalities such as Britney Spears, Sheryl Crow, Felicity Huffman, Eva Longoria, Katherine Heigl, Carmen Electra and Anastasia. Her male clients are just as impressive. Justin Timberlake, Leonardo DiCaprio, Diego Luna and Denzel Washington have all been clients of Ulloa.
Also finding work in the high-end fashion industry, Ulloa has worked in runways, and advertising campaigns featuring top models. Yet, Ulloa doesn’t stop there. She has also found success in the TV industry working on commercial campaigns for international brands such as Oakley, Tresseme and AT&T.
Ulloa has just finished doing the makeup for the Britney Spears’ U.S. “Circus” Tour, one of the most attended tours of 2009. She has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy 2009 for Best Make-up and Hair for her work on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. She is also planning to launch her own make-up line at a celebrity favorite in Hollywood, Planet Blue Shop.
